Sumner Area Neighborhood Watch

This blog/newsletter deals with issues that specifically affect the residential area around Sumner Avenue in Claremont, "our neighborhood". My motivation for this newsletter is driven by concerns of increased crime throughout Claremont, but particularly in and around the freeway access areas. I believe it is in our best interest to support the local police by being the eyes and ears of our community and keeping our neighbors and police informed of suspicious activities. It is my intention that this newsletter will be a part of that process. I will be posting police reports for the area around Sumner Avenue (from Foothill to Baseline, and Towne to Thompson Creek) and updating as necessary. At this time, I'm listing all of the police reports except those involving family disputes or routine welfare checks. Summary Police Reports Of Crime Activity For January 2009:

• (1/04 8:40am): 600 Block Ridgefield Dr.- Vandalism to property
• (1/15 4:30pm): 1100 Block Hillsdale Dr. - Vandalism -gate latch broken

With the exception of two reports of vandalism, January's reported crime activity in our neighborhood has been rather low.

Police Reports For February 2009:

• (2/1 9:10am) - 1600 Mural Dr. - Suspicious person reported in area
• (2/2 10:00am) - 1700 Lynoak Dr. - Vandalism to Danbury school property
• (2/3 2:30am) - Woodbend Dr. and Griffith Park - Civil disturbance between male and female in park
• (2/4 4:30pm) - 1700 Lynoak Dr. - Suspicious auto in area
• (2/6 2:00pm) - 1200 Fort Lewis - Suspicious auto in area
• (2/6 2:00pm) - 1600 Finecroft Dr. - Suspicious injury reported
• (2/6 3:10pm) - 3000 Lealma Ave. - Suspicious persons/auto in area
• (2/6 6:00pm) - 1400 Lynoak Dr. - Suspicious w/f in area
• (2/6 6:00pm) - 1600 Mural Dr. - Suspicious w/f in area - same person
• (2/7 5:30pm) - 700 Ridgefield Dr. - Medical emergency
• (2/8 8:30pm) - 1800 Sumner Ave. - Non injury auto accident, minor damage to Sumner School property
• (2/9 4:00pm) - 1700 Sumner Ave. - False burglar alarm report
• (2/9 4:30pm) Reims St. - Citizens arrest, person using stolen computer to make purchases
